In 2018, Gurshad Shaheman presented his second show at the Avignon Festival. On that day, her mother, her aunt who had come from Tehran, and her other aunt, who lives in Germany, saw each other for the first time in eleven years. That’s when a wild idea was born: to use theater to tell their stories and reconnect. They’ve had husbands, children, and divorces. Two of them decided to leave their country. On stage, the three women reenact moments from their past, while three Franco-Iranian actresses bring their words to life. Through three interwoven monologues, the writer and director traces their extraordinary life stories.
