Cycling in Istres: a town that can also be discovered on two wheels!
Whether you enjoy peaceful rides, mountain biking, triathlon or simply discovering Istres in a different way, the town offers a wide range of cycling experiences accessible to all levels.

Mountain bike trail
This mountain biking route will allow you to discover Istres and its natural surroundings. Starting from the Educational and Cultural Centre, you will ride through several pine forests and enjoy the natural areas of Istres along an accessible route.
Cycle touring route to discover Istres
This route follows the cycling lanes and bike paths available throughout the town, as well as quiet roads. It passes near the main tourist sites of the city, identified by pictograms on the map. Feel free to stop along the way and take a detour to enjoy them fully.

Loop 1: Around the Étangs of Berre, Citis and Lavalduc: an easy route for the whole family, young and old alike.
On the southern edge of the Istres area, this route between plains and hills offers a spectacular mix of landscapes and lakes.
20 km loop route

Loop 2: From Istres to the medieval town of Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts: an intermediate route accessible to most riders.
Starting from the Porte d’Arles, in the heart of Istres town centre, cycle towards the medieval town of Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts. Along the way, you will ride beside the Étang de Berre, then discover the archaeological site of Saint-Blaise, the Étang de Lavalduc, the Étang du Citis and the former salt marshes of Rassuen. A route between plains and hills.

Loop 3: Beyond the lakes towards Martigues and the Provençal Venice: a more sporty ride.
Starting from the Porte d’Arles, in the heart of Istres, this 37 km loop route takes you through a wide variety of landscapes. Easy during the first kilometres, it then alternates between more dynamic sections and relaxing moments, leading you to one of the gems of the neighbouring area: the Provençal Venice.

Les Vélos des Étangs: Community and participatory repair workshops in Martigues, Saint-Chamas and Istres. These workshops allow members to learn how to maintain their bicycles in a friendly atmosphere while sharing ideas about soft mobility in the region.
Workshops under the CEC stadium stands on Tuesdays from 5 pm to 8 pm, Thursdays from 9 am to 12 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm.
