Presentation

The flame of the 23rd Olympiad will take to the streets of Istré on Sunday May 12.
The flame of the 23rd Olympiad will pass through Istré on Sunday, May 12, with its convoy of 40 vehicles, including the Olympic torchbearers, one of whom is a native of Istré: Marie-Josée Boudaille, president of USEP and member of the board of directors of the Office Municipal des Sports. A replacement has also been nominated - Patrick Della Barba (triathlete). These two personalities were selected in accordance with the criteria of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games.

Starting at 3.45pm, the flame will cover a 3.4 km route through the city center, ending its Istré run on the Bernardin Laugier esplanade, at the foot of the town hall. Along the route, educational institutions and clubs will form collective relays to showcase their sports.

This unique day will also be an opportunity to unite Istréens around a number of festivities:
- Istré Olympic song and dance
- Flight of doves
- Reading of the Olympic Charter
- Water sports on the pond
- Exhibitions and events on Istréan cultures and traditions
- Open-air disco ...

Lit in Olympia, Greece, the flame will begin its prologue on May 8, 2024 in Marseille, arriving by sea aboard the three-masted Belem, and will pass through seven towns in our department, including the town of Istres on May 12.
