Lecture: "History of Profiling"
Entertainment/recreation Conference Science and technologyTuesday 05 May 2026
from 18:00
Location : Château des Baumes
Presentation
Discover the history of criminal profiling and its use as an investigative tool. This lecture offers insights into behavioral analysis and helps separate the reality from the myths popularized by TV series and films.
During this lecture, Sandrine Skiller will guide you through the history and origins of criminal profiling.
Often popularized by TV shows and films, profiling is in reality an investigative tool based on behavioral analysis, used alongside other disciplines such as psychology, criminology, and forensic science.
Throughout the session, the speaker will explain how this method developed and how it can help better understand certain criminal behaviors, far from the misconceptions often portrayed in audiovisual media.
The lecture is presented by Sandrine Skiller, a lawyer with a degree in private law from the University of Montpellier and the National School of Procedure in Paris. Specialized in behavioral analysis and profiling, she regularly speaks at conferences and is a partner member of the Quebec Association of Criminalistics, as well as a media collaborator for investigation and profiling on the Black Track application.
