In an abandoned garden, a professor welcomes a student. She is young, enthusiastic, eager to learn. He is learned, sure of his knowledge.
Very quickly, language becomes a trap. An absurd mathematical demonstration, a delirious philology lesson… and the pressure mounts. Who is teaching what, and to whom? This relentlessly paced and fiercely funny closed-door drama allows Ionesco to dissect the absurdity of domination and power dynamics. After performing it in 2015 under the direction of Christian Schiaretti, Robin Renucci brings this biting fable back into the spotlight, a work that resonates deeply with him as an actor, director, theater director, and educator.
