Presentation
Follow the traces of the former salt pans of the Rassuen and Citis lagoons, all the way to the Port du Ranquet, where you will discover the old landing stage once used for salt transport in the 19th century, with Istres Sport Cyclotourisme!
Ride along Istres’ safe cycling paths and quiet roads, guided by the club’s instructors, and uncover part of the town’s rich history. Along the way, several stops will allow you to explore the Rassuen salt pans, home to diverse birdlife and unique flora, as well as the Lavalduc lagoon and the remains of an ancient aqueduct. The route will also take you to the charming fishermen’s huts district of Le Ranquet and its old port, where salt from the Citis and Lavalduc lagoons was once shipped.
Please remember to bring a well-maintained bike (mountain bike / hybrid bike / electric bike), a helmet, a water bottle, a snack, and a repair kit.
